The Mandalay Bay Events Center is a multi-purpose venue located near the Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino on the Las Vegas Strip in Paradise , Las Vegas . It offers up to 12,000 places. The owner and operator of the arena is MGM Resorts International .
history
The event hall opened on March 2nd, 1999. Concerts and various sporting events take place in the arena. In November 2000, the United States, Belgium, the Czech Republic and Spain met in the Final Four of the Fed Cup in the Events Center . The hosts with Monica Seles , Lindsay Davenport , Jennifer Capriati and Lisa Raymond won the final 5-0 against the Spaniards. The NBA All-Star Celebrity Basketball Game also took place here in 2007. The Latin Grammy Awards 2007, 2009 to 2013 also took place in the arena . On August 23, 2010, Ximena Navarrete was crowned Miss Universe in the arena .
In October 2017, MGM Resorts International acquired the San Antonio Stars team from the Women's National Basketball Association (WNBA). The Las Vegas Aces team has been competing at the Mandalay Bay Events Center since the 2018 season .
