The Angel of the Winds Arena is a multi-purpose arena in the US city of Everett , Washington state . It is currently the home of the Everett Silvertips from the Western Hockey League (WHL) and temporarily for the Seattle Storm from the Women's National Basketball Association (WNBA) until the Climate Pledge Arena reopens after the renovation. The Seattle- based roller derby league Tilted Thunder Rail Birds is another user of the arena.
history
The building complex was named Everett on September 27, 2003 after a total of 17 and a half months of construction and a total project cost of $ 83.3 million (arena: $ 71.5 million; land: $ 11.8 million) Events Center opened. It is the largest event hall in Snohomish County ( metropolitan area Seattle ) and is equipped for sports (including ice hockey , basketball , arena football , lacrosse , gymnastics and curling ). In 2008 and 2018 the Angel of the Winds Arena hosted the international figure skating competition Skate America . In 2012 and 2016 the Pacific Rim Gymnastics Championships took place in Everett . The championships include competitions in apparatus gymnastics , trampoline gymnastics and rhythmic gymnastics . In 2017, the U.S. Women's and Men's Curling Championships were held at Everett Arena.
In December 2017, the Angel of the Winds Casino Resort , operated by the Stillaguamish Indian tribe , became the new name sponsor of the hall. The $ 3.4 million contract runs for ten years through 2028. Previously, the Angel of the Winds Arena was sponsored by Comcast Arena at Everett and Xfinity Arena .
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic , there has been a quarantine center with 150 beds in the Angel of the Winds Arena since the beginning of April 2020 .
