The Prospera Place is a multi-purpose hall in the Canadian city of Kelowna , Province of British Columbia . The arena is the venue for the Kelowna Rockets from the Western Hockey League (WHL) and offers 5,507 seats or 6,286 including standing room for their games. Up to 8,000 visitors can be admitted to concerts.

history

Construction work on the CAD 24 million event site began on August 9, 1998. Almost exactly one year later, what was then Skyreach Place was inaugurated on August 28, 1999. In 2003 Prospera Credit Union acquired the naming rights and changed the name to Prospera Place . In March 2014, the hall operator RG Properties Ltd. reached an agreement. and the Prospera Credit Union for a contract extension until 2019.

In 2003 , 2005 , 2009 and 2015 the hall was the venue for WHL play-off finals for the Ed Chynoweth Cup . In 2004, the Memorial Cup was held in the hall in Prospera Place. With a final victory against the Gatineau Olympiques , the Rockets were able to win their first Memorial Cup. In addition to GM Place , the Pacific Coliseum ( Vancouver ) and the Interior Savings Center ( Kamloops ) , the arena was the venue for the top division of the 2006 U20 Junior Ice Hockey World Championship . The opening ceremony of the International Children's Games 2011 took place in the hall.

In addition to sporting events, Prospera Place is the venue for concerts , shows and trade fairs .
