The SaskTel Center is a multi-purpose hall in the Canadian city ​​of Saskatoon , Saskatchewan Province . It is located on the northeastern edge of the city and opened on February 9, 1988. The arena now has space for a maximum of 15,100 spectators and is home to the Saskatoon Blades ice hockey team .

history

The arena opened on February 9, 1988 and initially had a capacity of 7,800 seats. To host the 1991 Junior Ice Hockey World Championship , it was expanded to 11,300 places. In preparation for the 2010 U20 Ice Hockey World Championship, the hall was renovated from January to November 2009, increasing the capacity by a further 3,000 seats. In addition, the changing areas have been adapted to current requirements.

Since 2014, the hall has been named for the Canadian telecommunications company SaskTel for ten years . The company pays CAD 350,000 annually for this .

In addition to the regular home games of the Saskatoon Blades , other events took place in the SaskTel Center.
