Arthur J. Ornitz (born November 28, 1916 in New York City , New York , † July 10, 1985 there ) was an American cameraman .

Life

Arthur J. Ornitz, son of screenwriter and writer Samuel Ornitz , studied at the University of California and began working as a cameraman for documentaries in film. Ornitz did his military service during the Second World War in Europe, stayed there after his release and worked as a cameraman in Denmark and Norway . On his return to the United States, Ornitz avoided the Hollywood studio and worked on experimental film projects. He later took on photography for films by directors William Friedkin and John Cassavetes . At the same time he worked in the cinema, Ornitz worked as a cameraman and director for television.
