The Sandman Center is a multi-purpose hall in the Canadian city ​​of Kamloops , British Columbia . The Kamloops Blazers from the Western Hockey League (WHL) are based in the hall. It replaced the Kamloops Memorial Arena built in 1948 as the venue for the Blazers . Ice hockey games have 5,464 seats and concerts can host up to 6,000 visitors.

After construction began in September 1990, the arena was inaugurated on August 8, 1992 under the name Riverside Coliseum . In 1996 and 2014 the Canadian Men's Curling Championships, called The Brier , took place. In 1998 the World Curling Championships for women and men were held in the Riverside Coliseum. In 2005, the cooperative bank Interior Savings Credit Union gave its name for ten years and paid 120,000 CAD annually . During this time it was one of the venues for the top division of the 2006 U20 Junior Ice Hockey World Championship .

The hall has been named after the Sandman Hotel Group since the end of August 2015 . From March 28 to April 4, the Sandman Center was one of two venues for the top division of the 2016 Women's Ice Hockey World Championship . Three times (2006, 2010, 2015) the ice arena has been the scene of games in the Canada-Russia Series between all-star teams from the LHJMQ , OHL and WHL leagues of the Canadian Hockey League and a selection of Russian junior players.

The last major renovation took place in 2005 when new private boxes were set up. Apart from sporting events, the Sandman Center is used as a concert hall.
