Darren McFadden (* 27. August 1987 in Little Rock , Arkansas ) is a former American American Footballer in the National Football League (NFL). He played for the Oakland Raiders and the Dallas Cowboys as a running back .

college

Born the tenth of twelve children from precarious circumstances, McFadden received an athletic scholarship from the University of Arkansas and played college football for their team, the Razorbacks, for three years , scoring 44 touchdowns . He has received numerous awards for his outstanding achievements. For example, he received the prestigious Doak Walker Award , which honors the best running back in college football, twice.

NFL

Oakland Raiders

In the 2008 NFL Draft , he was selected in the first round as 4th overall by the Oakland Raiders . McFadden scored four touchdowns in his rookie season. In the following years he developed into a reliable support in the attacking game of the Raiders. In 2010 he was able to run more than 1000 yards for the first time .

Dallas Cowboys

In March 2015, following the departure of DeMarco Murray, he was signed by the Dallas Cowboys , with whom he received a two-year contract worth $ 5.85 million . He was also able to convince in Texas and in his first season for the Cowboys he ran 1,089 yards and scored three touchdowns.

In June 2016, he had to undergo an operation on his elbow joint after an accident .

After McFadden was fired by the Cowboys in mid-November 2017, he retired from active sports.
