The Estadio Hiram Bithorn is a baseball stadium in San Juan , the capital of Puerto Rico , which has also been used for football since 2008 . It is the home of the Cangrejeros de Santurce and the San Juan Senators from the Liga de Béisbol Profesional de Puerto Rico as well as the Atléticos de San Juan and Academia Quintana from the Puerto Rico Soccer League . Until 2004, the Hiram Bithorn was also home to the Senadores de San Juan , before they migrated to Arecibo as Lobos . In addition to baseball and soccer games, it is also the venue for other sports and major events such as boxing matches or concerts. It holds around 18,000 spectators. Built in 1962, the stadium is named after Hiram Bithorn , a Santurce pitcher who became the first Puerto Rican player to make it into Major League Baseball (MLB).

In 2001 the inaugural MLB game between the Toronto Blue Jays and the Texas Rangers took place here. In 2003 and 2004, after a renovation, the stadium housed the Expos de Montréal for 22 home games before they moved to Washington, DC as Nationals. At the World Baseball Classic in 2006 , 2009 and 2013 it was the venue for a group in the first round.
