Kurt Lotterschmid

Kurt Lotterschmid (born June 29, 1941 ) is an entrepreneur and former German racing driver .

Racing career

Kurt Lotterschmid began his racing career in Formula Vau at the end of the 1960s .

In 1971 he switched to the Interserie , which was newly founded in 1970 , in which he competed in the 1st division with the Lotec and LWB 747 racing cars that he developed himself. From 1976 to 1979 he drove a Deutsch Spezial Porsche 908 there. With this racing car he was able to record his first victory in the Interseries in 1978 at the race in Wunstorf. From 1979 he started with different vehicles like the TOJ SC205, TOJ SC306 and Lotec 681 in the 2nd division of the Interseries. In the Interserie he celebrated his greatest motorsport successes in 1979 and 1980 with the season win in the 2nd division. After the 1981 season he ended his engagement in the Interserie.

In 1982 and 1983 he drove his Lotec M1C in Group C and C Junior of the German Racing Championship (DRM). In this racing series, he was able to place 6th overall in both years.

Lotterschmid drove a total of three endurance races in the sports car world championship . He had his first start in 1979 at the 1000 km race on the Nürburgring with a Deutsch Spezial- Porsche 908 , which he, Ralf Walter and Franz Kaiser retired early. A year later , he and Kurt Hild competed again in the TOJ SC306 in the 1000 km race on the Nürburgring, which they were also unable to complete successfully. His last start in the Manufacturers' World Championship was in 1983 at the Fuji 1000 km race . There he, Naoki Nagasaka and Keiichi Suzuki dropped out due to engine failure in the Lotec M1C, which started in Group C Junior.

Career as an entrepreneur

Lotterschmid founded the automobile construction company Lotec in 1962 . He successfully used the Lotec racing cars he developed himself in the Interseries and DRM. In addition to developing turbo engines for Mercedes and Ferrari, he built the C1000 sports car in 1990 and the luxurious Ambassadeur sedan in 1991. In 1992 he began developing the Lotec Sirius super sports car , but it never went into series production.
