The Bizkaia Arena is a multi-purpose arena in the Spanish city of Barakaldo in the greater Bilbao area , Basque Country Autonomous Community . It is part of the opened in April 2004 Exhibition and Congress Center Bilbao Exhibition Center (BEC). There are 11,500 seats in the stands. They can be increased by 3,500 seats with additional grandstands. It can hold a maximum of 18,500 visitors for concerts and is the largest multifunctional arena in the country.
history
The arena opened in November 2004. The hall is a regular venue for u. a. Basketball games , concerts , family shows, meetings and trade shows. In 2007 and 2011 the Supercopa de España de Baloncesto was held in the Bizkaia Arena. In the 2009/10 season it was the home ground of the basketball club CB Bilbao Berri . The hall was also the venue for the Final Eight of the Copa del Rey de Baloncesto 2009/10. The Bizkaia Arena was one of the six venues for the 2014 Basketball World Cup . In 2018 the MTV Europe Music Awards took place here.
