The Supercopa de España de Baloncesto ( Spanish Basketball Supercup ) is a Spanish basketball competition . It was held from 1984 to 1987 and has been held annually since 2004. Originally, as is usual in Supercup competitions , the winner of the league and the winner of the cup competition met . The title was played in one game at a neutral location.

From 2004 the competition was reintroduced after a 17-year break. Since then, the title has been played in the knockout system on a weekend before the start of the ACB League at a specified location. Four teams are eligible to participate; the champions, the cup winners, the top-ranked team in international tournaments ( ULEB Euroleague , ULEB Eurocup ) and the host team. If several criteria apply to a team, the next best team in the league moves up.
