Pablo Prigioni (born May 17, 1977 in Río Tercero , Córdoba ) is an Argentine basketball coach and former player. The 1.86 m tall point guard played much of his career in Spain before joining the North American National Basketball Association at the unusually old age of 35 . He was also a member of the Argentine national team since 2003 . He also has Italian and Spanish citizenship.

Career

With TAU Cerámica Vitoria , Prigioni reached the final of the ULEB Euroleague in 2005 , and in 2006 and 2007 he was elected to the All Euroleague Second Team . He also won the Spanish championship in 2008 and the Spanish Cup in 2004 and 2006, and in 2006 he was named the most valuable player in the Final Eight series. As part of the Argentine national team, Prigioni reached the semi-finals of the 2006 World Cup and won the bronze medal at the 2008 Olympic Games .

In the summer of 2012, at the ripe old age of 35, he finally ventured into the NBA to the New York Knicks . After moderate success, he switched to the Houston Rockets in February 2015 . From summer 2015 he was under contract with the Los Angeles Clippers . After returning to Vitoria the following year, Prigioni announced his retirement in early 2017. For the 2017/18 season he became the club's head coach, but resigned after a short time.
