Facundo "Facu" Campazzo (born March 23, 1991 in Córdoba ) is an Argentine basketball player . He plays in the position of point guard .

career

Facundo Campazzo began his career in his hometown in the youth of the Municipal de Córdoba and Unión Eléctrica clubs. In 2007 he switched to the offspring of the top Argentinian club CA Peñarol from Mar del Plata . On September 2, 2008, he made his debut in the professional team during the Copa Argentina. At Peñarol he played six seasons and was able to win four national championships (2009/10, 2010/11, 2011/12 and 2013/14) and a FIBA Americas League (2009/10).

In the summer of 2014 Campazzo was signed by the Spanish club Real Madrid . The 2014/15 season was very successful for his club, with Real Madrid winning all sorts of titles, the Supercup , the national cup , the championship and the EuroLeague . However, Campazzo himself could not prevail due to the strong competition in his position, where Sergio Rodríguez and Sergio Llull were mostly preferred, and was awarded to CB Murcia after the season . Here Facundo Campazzo developed into an important player, reached the quarter-finals of the Spanish championship in 2015/16, played the EuroCup 2016/17 and was elected to the All-Tournament Second Team of the ACB League due to his strong performance in the 2016/17 season .

He returned to Real Madrid for the 2017/18 season, where he had to take on a major role, not least due to Sergio Llull's serious injury, who was out for a large part of the season. Together with Luka Dončić , he led the team as point guard to first place in the basic round of the Spanish championship and into the Final Four of the EuroLeague , where the team won the title with the recovered Sergio Llull. For the second time in a row Campazzo was elected to the All-Tournament Second Team of the Spanish league.

National team

Facundo Campazzo, who was part of the Argentine youth national team as a junior and won the U-16 South American Championship in 2007 and took part in the Albert Schweitzer tournament in 2009, made his debut in the senior national team in 2012 . That year he won the South American basketball championship with his national selection and also took part in the Summer Olympics.
