Jeffery Matthew Taylor (born May 23, 1989 in Norrköping ) is a Swedish - American basketball player . He plays in the position of the small forward .
career
Jeffery Taylor was born as the son of American professional basketball player Jeff Taylor in Norrköping, Sweden . In his hometown he started playing basketball at the local club Norrköping BBF . In 2006, the then 17-year-old Taylor moved to the United States and continued his career at Hobbs High School in Hobbs, New Mexico . After graduating, he went to Vanderbilt University , where he played for the Vanderbilt Commodores in the NCAA's Southeastern Conference from 2008 to 2012 .
In the 2012 draft , Taylor was selected 31st by the Charlotte Bobcats . In his first season in the North American NBA , he averaged 6.1 points in 77 appearances. In the following year he improved his statistics to 8 points and 2.3 rebounds per game, an injury to the Achilles tendon that he suffered in December 2013, but ended his season early. In October 2014, Jeffery Taylor pleaded guilty to domestic violence and property damage in a lawsuit against him and was subsequently banned from the NBA for 24 games. After the end of his sentence in December 2014, he temporarily appeared for the Austin Spurs in the D-League before he could finally return to the Charlotte Hornets on January 9, 2015.
In the summer of 2015 he moved to the Spanish ACB league for Real Madrid .
National team
Jeffery Taylor played as a junior for the Swedish national team in 2006 and 2007, the finals of the U-18 European Championships. In 2008 he took part in the U-20 European Championship with the Scandinavians.
He made his senior national team debut on August 22, 2013 in a friendly against Great Britain in preparation for the European Basketball Championship . In the finals he reached 13th place with his team and contributed an average of 21.2 points and 4.6 rebounds per game.
