Anthony Erwin Randolph Jr. (born July 15, 1989 in Würzburg , Germany ) is an American basketball player with Slovenian nationality who plays for the Spanish club Real Madrid in the position of power forward .

Career

Randolph was born in Würzburg as the son of American soldiers stationed in Germany . After a year, his family moved to California, the United States. After his high school career in Dallas , he played a year of college basketball at Louisiana State University . In the 2008 NBA draft , he was selected by the Golden State Warriors in 14th place. He was the youngest player in the NBA during the 2008-09 season . He played a convincing rookie season , scoring 7.9 points and 5.8 rebounds in 63 games in 22 games as a starter. The following year he improved to 11.6 points, 6.3 rebounds and 1.5 blocks per game, but only completed 33 games due to an injury.

In the summer of 2010 he was swapped with Kelenna Azubuike and Ronny Turiaf for David Lee at the New York Knicks . He stayed with the Knicks for only six months before being sent to the Minnesota Timberwolves in a Carmelo Anthony transfer . With these, however, he only stayed until the summer before he signed a new contract with the Denver Nuggets . With the nuggets, however, he was never able to live up to expectations. He made 82 missions in two years and scored 4.3 points and 2.6 rebounds on average. On June 26, 2014, it was first sent to the Chicago Bulls and a few days later passed on to the Orlando Magic . Shortly thereafter, he was released from the Magic.

On August 18, 2014, Randolph signed a contract with the Russian club Lokomotiv Kuban. There he rose to the side of his compatriot Malcolm Delaney to a major player and surprisingly led his team to the final four of the ULEB Euroleague in the 2015/16 season . He himself achieved an average of 14.5 points and 6 rebounds per game in the international competition. After two years in Russia, Randolph moved to the Spanish ACB league , Real Madrid, in July 2016 .

Randolph has been part of the Slovenian national team since June 2017. With this he won the European basketball championship in 2017 .
