David Lee (born April 29, 1983 in St. Louis , Missouri ) is a retired American basketball player . Most recently he played with the San Antonio Spurs . Lee is a 2.06 m tall and 113 kg heavy power forward .

NBA

He was drafted in 2005 as the 30th pick (first round) by the New York Knicks .

In his rookie season he was able to achieve an average of 5.1 points and 4.5 rebounds statistics. In the following years he was able to improve steadily and reached an average of 16.0 points and 11.7 rebounds in the NBA season 08/09. In the 09/10 season he made his breakthrough with an average of 20.2 points and 11.7 rebounds. That season he was also voted an NBA All-Star for the first time .

In the summer of 2010, Lee was traded to Golden State immediately after his contract renewal .

In the 2012/13 season he again took part in the NBA All-Star Game . At the home game at the Oracle Arena against the San Antonio Spurs on February 22nd, he set a new personal record with 22 rebounds .

In the 2014/15 season he lost his place in the starting five of the Warriors and was only used sporadically in the playoffs. In the finals against the Cleveland Cavaliers , he was used in four games and brought it to an average of 9.5 minutes, 5.5 points, 2.5 rebounds and 1.5 assists per game. The Warriors won the final series 4-2, giving Lee his first NBA title.

In summer 2015 he moved to the Boston Celtics . On February 22, 2016, it was announced that Lee would join the Dallas Mavericks . From summer 2016 he was under contract with the San Antonio Spurs . He ended his career in November 2017.

Private

Since November 3, 2017 he was engaged to the Danish tennis player Caroline Wozniacki . The two married in Italy in mid-June 2019.
