Trainer
Head coaches of the two All-Star teams are traditionally the two coaches whose team leads the respective conference two weeks before the game. For the team of the Western Conference was Gregg Popovich , coach of the San Antonio Spurs , and for the team of the Eastern Conference Erik Spoelstra , coach of the Miami Heat , in charge. It was Popovich's third and Spoelstra's first appearance as head coach of an all-star team.
Squad
The players (two guards and three front court players per conference) who received the most votes by fan vote were set for the starting grid. After the election, the 30 head coaches of the NBA clubs selected a further seven players for their conference team (two guards, three front court players and two other position-independent players), so that a total of 24 players took part in this game.
* Chris Bosh was put on the grid for injured starter Rajon Rondo by Eastern Conference coach Erik Spoelstra.
** Brook Lopez was nominated for the injured starter Rajon Rondo by Commissioner David Stern for the squad.
