2008 NBA All-Star Game
The NBA All-Star Game in 2008 took place on February 17 in New Orleans ( Louisiana instead). The 57th All-Star Game was played in the New Orleans Arena , home of the New Orleans Hornets , the local NBA team.
The Eastern Conference team won the game with 134-128. The MVP of the game was LeBron James of the Cleveland Cavaliers , who with 27 points, nine assists and eight rebounds made a significant contribution to the victory of the East.
Trainer
The coaches of the two All-Star teams were the two NBA coaches, whose teams led the respective conference on February 3rd (two weeks before the game). In the Western Conference , the selection turned out to be particularly complicated this year: Mike D'Antoni from the Phoenix Suns , the front runner in the West, coached the selection last year, which is why he was not an option. Behind the Suns, the Dallas Mavericks and New Orleans Hornets were tied in second place. Since Dallas Avery Johnson was already on the sidelines in 2006, the selection fell on the coach of the Hornets, who was last in the All-Star Game in 2002 when he was responsible for the selection of the East.
- Western Conference : Byron Scott ( New Orleans Hornets )
- Eastern Conference : Doc Rivers ( Boston Celtics )
player
The players of the Western Conference competed in jerseys with a white front and gold back, and the lettering and numbers were in red.
The Eastern Conference players competed in jerseys with a blue front and white back. Lettering and numbers were in white or blue.
Starting Five
In the period from November 14, 2007 to January 20, 2008, the fans had the opportunity to vote which players should be on the floor at the beginning of the game. Via the Internet, in the NBA arenas and in the shops of a sponsor, each voter could choose two forwards , two guards and one center per conference .
Kevin Garnett received the most votes with 2,399,148 votes, followed by LeBron James (2,108,831), who received the most votes last year, and Dwight Howard (2,066,991). This is followed by the first player in the Western Conference , Kobe Bryant (2,004,940), who won the MVP award in the All-Star Game last year .

Substitute player

No coach was allowed to vote for players from his own team.
On January 31, it was announced which players will be allowed to sit on the substitutes' bench. The two forwards, the two guards and the center with the most votes were invited, as well as the two players who received the most votes from the other players, regardless of their position, from the head coaches.
