The Oklahoma City Blue are an American basketball team that play in the NBA G-League and are based in Oklahoma City , Oklahoma .

history

The 66ers are named after the famous Route 66 because it runs through Tulsa and because it used to play a major economic role. The team has an affiliate club in the NBA : the Oklahoma City Thunder . By the 2005/06 season, the team was called Asheville Altitude and played at the Asheville Civic Center in Asheville , North Carolina, where they won two D-League championships. The team's name had to do with the Blue Ridge Mountains . Asheville Altitude was one of the founding teams of the NBA Gatorade League .

On July 31, 2008, the 66ers announced that Clayton Bennett of Professional Basketball Club LLC (owner of Oklahoma City Thunder ) had agreed to purchase the 66ers. This made the team the third after the Los Angeles D-Fenders and the Austin Toros to belong to an NBA team. Under the terms of this agreement, the 66ers are only the Thunder farm team and no other team. The Milwaukee Bucks had the 66ers as a farm team, but now have the Fort Wayne Mad Ants as a farm team .

In the 2010/11 season, the team was unbeaten 14 games in a row, setting a new record to then defeat the Maine Red Claws with 106: 109 in the 15th game on January 30, 2011 .

In the 2014/2015 season, the team moved to Oklahoma City because the previous home hall in Tulsa was no longer available. With the relocation was also renamed Oklahoma City Blue . The new home venue was the Cox Convention Center with 13,846 seats.
