For the 2014/15 season, the New York Knicks announced the establishment of their own team in the NBA G-League in order to be able to better promote the training of young players there. In early May 2014, the Knicks announced that the team would play their games at the Westchester County Center, which has 5,000 seats for home games.

The team was called the Westchester Knicks and uses the New York Knicks for its colors and logos. The logo was based on the logo used by the New York Knicks between 1946 and 1964.
