The Stockton Kings are a basketball team of NBA G-League , which since the season 2018/19 in Stockton , California is located. The team was originally founded in 2008 as Reno Bighorns in Reno , Nevada and started playing for the 2008-09 season.

history

As part of a further expansion of the G-League, a new team was established in the Reno in 2008. The new " franchise " was presented under the name Reno Bighorns . The home hall of the Bighorns was the Reno Events Center . It held up to 7,500 spectators at home games of the Bighorns.

The Bighorns originally acted as the " farm team " for various teams in the National Basketball Association (NBA). While the Sacramento Kings have been their partners since the Bighorns were founded, various other NBA clubs were added as partners over the years, some of which then turned to other D-League farm teams as partners. The Bighorns were originally run by Southwest Basketball, LLC . In February 2009, however, the team was sold to SK Baseball . This group also owns the Reno Aces baseball team . In 2011 the team was finally owned by Bighorns Basketball, LLC .

Finally, the Bighorns and the Kings agreed an exclusive partnership in July 2013, after which Sacramento's former player Shareef Abdur-Rahim was the new sports director ( general manager ) of the Bighorns.

For the 2018/19 season, the team moved from Reno, Nevada to Stockton, California, adopting club colors, names and a logo comparable to the parent franchise.
