The Greensboro Swarm are an NBA G-League team based in Greensboro, North Carolina . The team plays its home games in the Greensboro Coliseum Fieldhouse, which is part of the Greensboro Coliseum .
history
In May 2015, the Charlotte Hornets announced that they would bring an NBA D-League team to North Carolina by 2016 at the latest . After looking at several possible locations, it was confirmed in the fall of 2015 that it would settle in Greensboro, North Carolina . On December 29, 2015, the name and logo of the Swarms were presented. This happened during the break at the championship game of the HAECO Invitational , a local high school tournament in Greensboro. Among others with some players and officials of the Charlotte Hornets, as well as the mascot Hugo the Hornet and the cheerleading troupe Honey Bees .
On July 25, 2016, Noel Gillespie was introduced as the Swarms' new head coach.
The first victory was celebrated on November 25, 2016, when they defeated the Erie BayHawks with 109 to 88. At the end of the first season they landed in fourth place in the Atlantic Division.
