Utah Flash (2007-2011)

As early as 2004, when the NBA G-League was already in the starting blocks as the NBA Development League , planning for its own team began in Utah. The trailer Flash won a poll with over 20,000 votes, making Utah Flash the new name. David Fredman, who was in the NBA for almost 30 years as a scout for the Utah Jazz and as a general manager for the Denver Nuggets , received great support in founding the company . The Boston Celtics also helped build the team. After they got their own farm team with the Maine Red Claws in 2009, the Atlanta Hawks became a new partner of the Flash.

On April 17, 2007, the Utah Flash was announced as the new D-League franchise . The Flash were assigned to the Utah Jazz as a " farm team ". The UCCU Center on the Utah Valley University campus was chosen as the new home hall . Brad Jones was the first head coach .

Since entering the game in 2007, the Flash have reached the playoffs of the D-League every season . In 2008/2009 even the final of the playoffs could be reached. There the Flash had to admit defeat to the Colorado 14ers . The last head coach of the Utah Flash was Kevin Young since the 2010/2011 season. He had previously worked as an assistant coach for the franchise for 2 years. After the 2010/11 season, the team was deregistered from the game and was up for sale.

Delaware 87ers (2013-2018)

In 2013, the Philadelphia 76ers acquired the rights to the team and moved the headquarters to Newark . They also changed the name of the franchise to Delaware 87ers . While the United States Declaration of Independence 17 76 was signed in Philadelphia, Delaware was the first US state that 17 87 the United States Constitution ratified . In September, Brandon Williams was introduced as general manager and Rod Baker as head coach. The 2013/14 season was the 87ers' first season, and they played their home games at the Bob Carpenter Center " The Bob " on the University of Delaware campus . The first season was closed with a score of 12-38.

In August 2014 the new mascot was presented: the fox Caesar . It represents the heraldic animal of the state of Delaware and was named after Caesar Rodney , one of the founding fathers of the USA .

In the 2015/16 season, Jordan McRae set a record in the D-League with 61 points in one game. Only a short time later, his teammate Russ Smith broke the record, he scored 65 points against Canton Charge .
