history
The fans could decide on the name of the franchise themselves . On the team's website, you had to choose between the four names Lightning , Fire , Coyotes and Mad Ants . On June 18, 2007 it was announced that the team was called Mad Ants . The name was given to the team in honor of Mad Anthony Wayne , the namesake of Fort Wayne . The Mad Ants play their games at the Allen County War Memorial Coliseum .
On July 5, 2007, it was announced that the Mad Ants would be the Detroit Pistons and Indiana Pacers farm team . The Detroit Pistons in Fort Wayne , under their then name Fort Wayne Zollner Pistons , were founded by Fred Zollner by chance . On September 3, 2008, it was announced that the Mad Ants would also be a Milwaukee Bucks farm team for the 2008-2009 season . Finally, in 2012, the Charlotte Bobcats joined the NBA as the fourth partner team .
