The Grand Rapids Drive are an American basketball team that has been participating in the NBA G-League game at the Grand Rapids , Michigan location since the 2014/15 season . The team plays its home games in the DeltaPlex Arena with approx. 4,500 seats in Walker , Michigan.

history

In April 2014 it was announced that the Springfield Armor had been sold to the SSJ Group by majority owner Steve Jbara and that they would be relocated to Grand Rapids for the 2014/15 season. Since then, the team has been the exclusive G-League team for the Detroit Pistons .

The final name of the team was determined in a vote by the fans from the suggestions "Drive", "Chairmen", "Horsepower" and "Blue Racers". On June 17, 2014, the G-League and the team announced the new name and team logo, since then the “Grand Rapids NBA D-League Team” has been renamed “Grand Rapids Drive”.

After the 2014 NBA Draft on June 26, 2014, a ten-player squad was put together in the subsequent NBA G-League Draft.
