The Long Island Nets are an NBA G-League basketball team based in Uniondale, New York . The team plays its home games in the Nassau Veterans Memorial Coliseum , which is located on the island of Long Island of the same name .
history
In June 2015, the Brooklyn Nets announced that they would be starting their own farm team in the NBA Development League (now the NBA G-League) in the near future. A few months later, on November 5, 2015, the negotiations were finally concluded and the new Long Island Nets team was presented . The Nassau Veterans Memorial Coliseum was declared the arena , where the Brooklyn Nets played their home games in earlier years (1967-1976). Due to renovations, the Long Island Nets played in the first season at the Barclays Center , the home arena of the Brooklyn Nets.
On March 24, 2016, Alton Byrd was elected as the new Vice President. A month later, Ronald Nored was introduced as head coach and his assistant coaches were Ryan Gomes and Pat Rafferty .
On November 12, 2016, the Long Island Nets celebrated their first victory, beating Canton Charge by 120 to 118. At the end of their first season, the Nets were in fifth place in the Atlantic Division with a balance of 17 to 33.
