history

history

The area around Reno was between 2500 BC. Inhabited by the Martis until 500 AD . In the 1850s, the first settlers settled here, who, besides some agriculture, lived mainly from migrating settlers on the way to California . In 1869 the Central Pacific built the first trans-American railway line along the old settlers' path . In the course of the railway construction, Reno was officially founded on May 9, 1868, a depot was built there. It was named after Jesse L. Reno , a Northern general in the American Civil War who fell at the Battle of South Mountain . The city experienced a continuous boom that became a boom in 1931 with the legalization of gambling in Nevada.
