The Diocese of Reno ( Latin Dioecesis Renensis , English Diocese of Reno ) is a in the United States located Roman Catholic diocese , based in Reno , Nevada .

history

The diocese of Reno was founded on March 27, 1931 by Pope Pius XI. established with the Apostolic Constitution Pastoris aeterni from cessions of territory from the dioceses of Salt Lake and Sacramento and subordinated to the Archdiocese of San Francisco as a suffragan . On October 13, 1976, the Reno Diocese was renamed the Reno-Las Vegas Diocese . The diocese of Reno-Las Vegas was divided into the dioceses of Reno and Las Vegas on March 21, 1995 .
