The Diocese of Lafayette in Indiana was on October 21, 1944 by Pope Pius XII. built with the Apostolic Constitution Ut sedulo from cessions of territory of the Diocese of Fort Wayne and subordinated to the Archdiocese of Indianapolis as a suffragan .
