The Archdiocese of Anchorage-Juneau ( Latin : Archidioecesis Ancoragiensis-Junellensis ) is a diocese of the Roman Catholic Church based in Anchorage , Alaska .

history

The Archdiocese of Anchorage was detached from the Diocese of Juneau on January 22, 1966 and established as an archdiocese with the suffragan dioceses Juneau and Fairbanks .

On May 19, 2020, Pope Francis united the Diocese of Juneau with the Archdiocese of Anchorage to form the Archdiocese of Anchorage-Juneau and abolished the Diocese of Juneau as an independent diocese. The last Bishop of Juneau, Andrew Bellisario CM , was named Archbishop of the Unified Archdiocese.
