The Roman Catholic Diocese of Charlotte ( Latin Dioecesis Carolinana , English Diocese of Charlotte ) is in the United States located Roman Catholic diocese , based in Charlotte , North Carolina .

history

The diocese was on November 12, 1971 by Pope Paul VI. built from cession of the diocese of Raleigh and subordinated to the Archdiocese of Atlanta as a suffragan . In 1977 the territory of the dissolved Belmont-Mary Help of Christians Territorial Abbey was annexed to the Diocese of Charlotte.
