The Roman Catholic Diocese of Covington ( Latin Dioecesis Covingtonensis , English Diocese of Covington ) is a in the United States located Roman Catholic diocese , based in Covington , Kentucky .

history

The diocese of Covington was on July 29, 1853 by Pope Pius IX. built from cession of the Diocese of Louisville and subordinated to the Archdiocese of Cincinnati as a suffragan . On December 10, 1937, the Diocese of Covington was subordinated to the Archdiocese of Louisville as a suffragan. The Diocese of Covington gave on January 14, 1988 parts of its territory establishing the Diocese of Lexington .
