The diocese of Sioux City ( Latin : Dioecesis Siopolitanus ) located in the USA is a diocese of the Roman Catholic Church . It was spun off from the Archdiocese of Dubuque on January 15, 1902 . It is subject to this today as a suffrangan .

On November 10, 2005, Pope Benedict XVI appointed the previous Vicar General of the Archdiocese of Denver , Ralph Walker Nickless , as Bishop of Sioux City .
