history

The Diocese of Fall River was established on March 12, 1904 by Pope Pius X. from cessions of territory of the Diocese of Providence and the Archdiocese of Boston as a suffragan .

The Diocese of Fall River comprises the areas of Barnstable County , Bristol County , Dukes County and Nantucket Counties in the state of Massachusetts and the towns of Mattapoisett , Marion and Wareham in County Plymouth .
