The Roman Catholic Diocese of Austin ( lat. : Dioecesis Austiniensis ) is in the United States located Roman Catholic diocese , based in Austin , Texas .
history
The Diocese of Austin was on November 15, 1947 by Pope Pius XII. established with the Apostolic Constitution Ad animarum bonum from cessions of territory of the Archdiocese of San Antonio and the dioceses of Dallas and Galveston . It was subordinated to the Archdiocese of San Antonio as a suffragan . On October 16, 1961, the Diocese of Austin gave parts of its territory to establish the Diocese of San Angelo . The Diocese of Austin was subordinated to the Archdiocese of Galveston-Houston as a suffragan on December 29, 2004.
