Career

Jan Kolář began his career as an ice hockey player in his hometown in the youth department of HC Pardubice , for whose U18 juniors he was active in the U18 junior extra league from 2000 to 2002. He then moved in the course of the 2002/03 season to the youth department of HC Třinec , for whose U20 juniors he also competed in the top division of his year in the following year and a half. For the 2004/05 season, the defender returned to Pardubice and spent the entire season with its U20 juniors. There he began the following season, but played in the further course of the season for the professional teams of HC Hradec Králové and KLH Vajgar Jindřichův Hradec in the second-class first division .

In the 2006/07 season Kolář made his debut for Pardubices professional team in the extra league , in which he was used only once. The entire rest of the season he spent again in the first division, this time at HC Rebel Havlíčkův Brod . In the following two years the left shooter was able to prevail at HC Pardubice and was regularly on the ice for its professional division in the Extraliga. However, he continued to play in parallel in the first division for his ex-club HC Hradec Králové and HC Chrudim . Since the 2009/10 season he has played exclusively for Pardubice in the Extraliga and won the Czech championship title with his team for the first time in his career in the 2009/10 season .

In November 2012 Kolář was signed by HK Donbass Donetsk in the Continental Hockey League after he had fired Karel Pilař and Jaroslav Obšut and was therefore looking for an experienced defender. With HK Donbass he won the IIHF Continental Cup in 2013 . After the 2013/14 season, the club withdrew from the game due to the crisis in Ukraine and Kolář moved to Admiral Vladivostok within the KHL .

In June 2015, Kolář was given to Amur Khabarovsk as part of a swap deal that included a total of 12 players and 2 transfer rights. He was under contract with Amur Khabarovsk until the end of the 2018/19 season. He then left the club and returned to his home club HC Dynamo Pardubice after a total of 364 KHL games, in which he scored 33 goals and contributed 67 assists.
