The 2006/07 season was the 14th regular staging of the Czech extra league . In the play-off final, last year's champions HC Sparta Prague prevailed against HC Moeller Pardubice with 4-2 and were able to defend their title. In the first division of the Czech Republic , HC Slovan Ústečtí Lvi prevailed against KLH Chomutov and rose to the extra league without being relegated. After the end of the season Vsetínská hokejová was excluded from the league due to financial problems and unfulfilled conditions.

mode

In 52 games, all teams play against each other four times, each team has 26 home and 26 away games throughout the season. The teams in places 1-6. qualify directly for the play-offs, which will be played in the best-of-seven mode. The teams in places 7th – 10th play the other two places in the Best of Five against each other. There will be no relegation in the 2006/07 season, as this is not provided for in the rules of the Extraliga. This means that the champions of the first division are promoted directly to the extra division.

The last two places in the playoffs were played between the seventh to tenth-placed teams. The teams that were worse placed prevailed. At HC Třinec Roman Čechmánek showed an outstanding performance and saved 114 of 118 shots on his goal in the three games. Another legend of Czech ice hockey, Jiří Dopita , made it into the play-offs in his 700th Extraliga game with HC Znojemští Orli.
