The Extraliga 2018/19 was the 26th regular staging of the highest Czech ice hockey league . Czech champions were for the second time in the club's history of HC Oceláři Třinec , who defeated the Bílí Tygři Liberec 4-2 in the playoff final. The Piráti Chomutov rose after four years in the top division back down to the first division and were replaced by the Rytíři Kladno , who rose again after five years of the first division.

mode

The T.G. Masaryk Cup

In 52 games, all teams play against each other four times, each team has 26 home and 26 away games throughout the season. The teams in places 1 to 6 qualify directly for the play-offs, which are played in best-of-seven mode. The winner of the play-offs will receive the Pohár TG Masaryka (T.-G.-Masaryk-Pokal) as Czech champions .

The teams in places 7 to 10 play off the other two playoff places in the best of five . The remaining four teams play a relegation round (play-out), the last two of which participate in the league relegation against the two semi-final winners of the first division .

Relegation

In the relegation between the Extraliga and the 1st League, the last two of the Extraliga relegation round and the two semi-final winners of the 1st League playoffs met. The first two of the relegation will play in the extra league in the following season. Under the leadership of the former NHL players Jaromír Jágr and Tomáš Plekanec , the Rytíři Kladno managed to return to the extra league.
