The club has played its home games in the ČPP aréna since 1957 , which has a capacity of 6,890 spectators.

history

In 1925 the Bruslařský klub Hradec Králové was founded in Hradec Králové , which from 1926 belonged to the Czech Ice Hockey Federation. After the Second World War, the club was renamed Sokol Škoda Hradec Králové in 1948 , whose first team played at the regional level. Four years later, the club was renamed again: As Spartak Hradec Králové ZVÚ , they continued to take part in regional competitions, as there was no artificial ice surface in Hradec Králové. It was not until 1956 that the construction of an open-air stadium began, so that the club's teams had better training opportunities from 1957. The first game in the new stadium Spartak lost against VTJ Dukla Litoměřice 6: 9. At the end of the 1950s (1958), Spartak's first team made it to the second division. At the end of the season 1962/63 they occupied only the last place in the second division, but since no promoted team could be found for financial reasons, Spartak remained in the second division.

Ascents and Descents (1967-2013)

At the end of the 1960s, the club's first team showed their best performance up to that point: They won their second division season in 1967 and 1968 and were thus entitled to take part in the respective promotion round. In the following years the club stayed in the middle of the table in the second division. When a new league structure was created in 1973, Spartak did not qualify for the new 1. ČNHL, but relegated to the third class 2. ČNHL. Only three years later did the team get the chance to rise: They won group B of the third division and prevailed in the promotion round against the second team of SONP Kladno and TZ Trinec . Thus Spartak belonged again to the second division of the ČSSR. Associated with the rise was a renaming of the club in TJ Stadion Hradec Králové . In the following seasons, the club's first team rose regularly up and down before they could establish themselves in the second division in the 1980s. In 1983 the club was runner-up in the second division. This success could only be repeated in 1992 and 1993, so that the club was promoted to the newly founded Extraliga in 1993 as HC Stadion Hradec Králové . However, at the end of the 1993/94 season they only finished eleventh, so that they were relegated to the second-class first division . 1997 even followed the relegation to the 2nd division

In the summer of 2000 the joint stock company HC Hradec Králové as was founded, in which the city of Hradec Králové, HC Moeller Pardubice and a civic association were involved. This company managed to finance ice hockey in Hradec Králové and to find sponsors for the club. In 2002, by acquiring the license from HC Šumperk, they were promoted back to the first division, in which the club played until 2013. The club made it to the semi-finals of the playoffs of the 1st division twice during this period.

Purchase of an Extraliga license (since 2013)

In the course of the 2012/13 season , the Extraliga agreed on a sponsorship contract with the Radegast brewery, which received exclusive serving permits in all stadiums of the league from the following season. This contract collided with the contract between the city of Budweis and the Budweiser Budvar Brewery regarding the naming and serving rights of the Budvar Aréna , which provides for high penalties for serving a different beer brand than Budweiser in the arena. After no agreement could be reached between the conflicting parties, the Extraliga license (including the current player and employee contracts) of HC Mountfield was sold to a newly founded operating company, Mountfield HK as , from Hradec Králové.
