The 1993/94 season was the first regular staging of the Czech extra league . In the play-off final, HC Olomouc prevailed against HC Moeller Pardubice with 3-1. In the first division of the Czech Republic , HC Vsetín won the championship and, together with runner-up HC Slavia Prague, left the losers of the play-downs behind in the relegation games.

mode

In 44 games, all teams play against each other four times, each team has 22 home and 22 away games throughout the season. The teams in places 1-8. qualify directly for the play-offs, which will be played in the best-of-five mode . At the end of the season, play-downs also take place in the best-of-five mode, in which the teams ranked 9th – 12th. take part. The two losers of the play-downs then compete in the league relegation, for which the champions and vice-champions of the 1st division also qualify. In a double round, the two participants for the following season of the extra league are played out, while the other two participants participate in the first division in the following season.

The HC Olomouc prevailed against the HC Pardubice with 3-1 and won the first Czech championship and the first title in the club's history. The team, which had always played in the midfield of the league, was strengthened by Jiří Dopita , who joined the team after the Eisbären Berlin remained relegated.

This means that HC Vsetín and HC Slavia Prague are promoted to the extra league at the expense of HC Hradec Králové and HC Jindřichův Hradec . HC Vsetín had strengthened themselves for the relegation with Antonín Stavjaňa and Alexej Jaškin (on loan from Chimik Woskressensk ) and had a very good goalkeeper in Roman Cechmánek . HC Slavia Prague signed Richard Farda as head coach and took Vladimír Růžička , who had played in the NHL for the Edmonton Oilers and Boston Bruins in the last three years , under contract and was able to achieve promotion.
