The 2005/06 season was the 13th regular staging of the Czech extra league . In the play-off final, HC Sparta Prague prevailed against local rivals HC Slavia Prague with 4-2. In the 1st league of the Czech Republic , the HC Slovan Ústečtí Lvi won the championship, but failed in the relegation with 4-2 to Vsetínská hokejová .

mode

In 52 games, all teams play against each other four times, each team has 26 home and 26 away games throughout the season. The teams in places 1–8 qualify directly for the play-offs, which will be played in the best-of-seven mode . In the 2005/06 season there is a league relegation for promotion to the extra league. The champions of the 1st league qualify for this and have to contest a best-of-seven series against the bottom of the table in the Extraliga.

The HC Sparta Prague prevailed against the Prague rivals HC Slavia with 4-2 and won the fourth title in the club's history. The outstanding player in the ranks of Sparta was goalkeeper Petr Bříza , who was able to celebrate a shutout in his last game as a professional. In addition, he showed consistently good performance throughout the play-offs and achieved a goal average of 1.56, a catch rate of 95.19% and a total of three shutouts. Another pillar of the champions was Jaroslav Hlinka , who scored ten goals and six assists in 17 playoff games.
