Martin Růžička (born December 15, 1985 in Beroun , Czechoslovakia ) is a Czech ice hockey player . He is under contract with HC Oceláři Třinec in the Czech extra league.

Career

Martin Růžička began his career as an ice hockey player in the youth department of HC Sparta Prague , where he was active until 2001. He then moved to HC Kladno , for whose junior teams he played in the U18 and U20 extra leagues. The winger then went to North America , where he played for two years in the Canadian Junior Western Hockey League for the Everett Silvertips and Lethbridge Hurricanes . After returning to the Czech Republic, he rejoined HC Sparta Prague, for whose professional team he made his debut in the extra league in the 2005/06 season . He gave two assists in 38 games and was Czech champions for the first time with Sparta in 2006 .

From 2006 to 2009 Růžička was under contract with HC Znojemští Orli in the Extraliga. At the same time, he played a few games for HC Berounští Medvědi and HC Olomouc in the second-class first division . The right-handed shooter was then committed by HC Oceláři Třinec , with whom he won the Czech championship in 2011 and was the top scorer of the playoffs. Because of the performances shown Růžička received a contract with Amur Khabarovsk from the Continental Hockey League in July 2011 . For Amur, he only played 37 KHL games due to injury, in which he collected 16 points scorer. He then returned to HC Oceláři Třinec in June 2012. At the end of the main round in 2012/13 he was the top scorer, best scorer and best assist in the Extraliga with 40 goals, 43 assists and 83 points. In the following season he reached the playoff semi-finals with Třinec, previously he was placed with 26 goals as the third best scorer in the main round.

He returned to the KHL for the 2014/15 season when he signed a two-year contract with HK Tractor Chelyabinsk .

International

For the Czech Republic , Růžička has so far only participated in the 2010 World Cup in Germany , where he and his team won the world championship.
