The 2004/05 season was the 12th regular staging of the highest Czech ice hockey league , the Tipsport Extraliga . In the play-off final, HC Moeller Pardubice beat HC Hamé Zlín 4-0. In the first division of the Czech Republic , HC České Budějovice won the championship and defeated HC Dukla Jihlava , 4-1 , in the relegation games of the bottom of the table in the Extraliga . České Budějovice is promoted to the extra league and takes the place of Jihlava.

In 52 games, all teams play against each other four times, each team has 26 home and 26 away games throughout the season. The teams in places 1-8. qualify directly for the play-offs, which will be played in the best-of-seven mode . At the end of the season there is a league relegation for relegation and promotion to the extra league. The champions of the 1st league qualify for this and have to contest a best-of-seven series against the bottom of the table in the Extraliga.
