The Horácký zimní stadium is an ice rink in the Czech city of Jihlava . The stadium, which opened in 1956 and has a capacity of 7,500, is the home ground of the HC Dukla Jihlava ice hockey club . The hall offers 1,731 seats and 5,769 standing places, the ice surface is 58 × 28 meters. The name is derived from the Horácko region , part of the Highlands region .

When the ice hockey team moved from Dukla Olomouc to Jihlava in the mid-1950s, it became necessary to build a new ice rink there. The Horácký zimní stadium was built in a central location between September 1954 and the end of 1955 and has since served as the home ground for HC Dukla Jihlava. It was roofed over in 1967 and modernized in 1989 so that concerts are now also possible.
A tragic event occurred on November 30, 1965. The interest in the encounter between Dukla Jihlava and Slovan Bratislava was so great that 2,000 people stayed at the gates. Shortly before the start of the game, part of the crowd pushed into the stadium interior and two people were crushed.
In the meantime, the more than 50-year-old building no longer meets the requirements of a modern stadium and should be fundamentally rebuilt by 2011 at the latest. In December 2007, various variants were presented in a study, but their realization has been postponed for the time being. In order to continue to meet the safety requirements in the old hall, maintenance measures are carried out on an ongoing basis.
