Michal Mikeska (born April 28, 1976 in Gottwaldov , Czechoslovakia ) is a former Czech ice hockey player and today's coach who was active for many years at HC Pardubice , HC České Budějovice , HC Energie Karlovy Vary and HC Havířov in the Czech extra league. Since the end of his career in 2014 he has been working as a youth coach at HC Pardubice.
Career
Michal Mikeska began his career as a hockey player at SK Horácká Slavia Třebíč , for whom he was active from 1996 to 1998, where he succeeded in the 1996/97 season with his team promotion from the third-class 2nd division to the 1st division . Then the attacker played for six years for HC Moeller Pardubice in the Czech extra league , with which he became Czech champions for the first time in 2005 . As the top scorer in the Extraliga, the left-handed shooter played a key role in this success. In the summer of 2006, Mikeska moved to Russia, where he received a contract with Salawat Julajew Ufa . With Ufa he won the Russian championship in the 2007/08 season .
In the summer of 2009 he moved within the Continental Hockey League to HK Sibir Novosibirsk , for which he only played seven games before returning to his home country for family reasons. He got contract offers from four clubs from the Extraliga and decided in early October 2009 for HC České Budějovice .
In the 2011/12 season he played on loan for HC Energie Karlovy Vary , before he was committed in September 2012 by Královští lvi Hradec Králové , where he acted as team captain.
In the 2013/14 season he let his career end with his hometown club SK Horácká Slavia Třebíč. He then returned to HC Pardubice as a junior coach and was also assistant coach for the club's professional team for six months in the 2016/17 season.
