history

The origins of today's club go back to 1928. In 1931, miners from the nearby mine founded the KČT Lazy . In 1955, the club moved to the newly founded Havířov , where a first permanent venue was built and youth teams also started playing. In the early 1970s, the club's men's team played in the second-tier 1st NHL, before moving to the third division in 1975.

The Zimní Stadium Havířov , home of the Panthers

In 1992 the HC Havířov became champions of the third class 2nd division and made it to the 1st division. There the club was able to establish itself relatively quickly and was able to advance several times to the playoff semifinals. Before the beginning of the 1999/2000 season , HC Havířov acquired the Extraliga license from HC Slezan Opava and from then on took part in the top division of the Czech Republic for four seasons. At the end of the 2002/03 season , HC Havířov only reached 14th place and therefore had to take part in the relegation. The club lost this 2: 4 against HC Vagnerplast Kladno and was relegated to the first division. As a result, the team of HC Havířov held in this division, with fifth place in the 2005/06 season, the best placement was achieved. In 2010 the operating company of the professional team went bankrupt. As a result, a new club was founded, which took over the gaming license and initially participated in the third division. 2013 succeeded the promotion to the second highest Czech league, 1st division .

The club plays its home games in the Zimní Stadium Havířov with a capacity of 5,100 . The club recorded the highest average attendance in its first Extraliga season (1999/2000), when an average of 4,301 viewers attended the club's games.

For marketing reasons , the association has been called AZ Residomo Havířov since 2017 .
