The Hockey Club Stadion Litoměřice is a Czech ice hockey club from Litoměřice , which has played in the second-class first division since 2010 .

history

The history of organized ice hockey in Litoměřice began with the establishment of Radobýl Litoměřice in 1949. This team was renamed VTJ Dukla Litoměřice in 1957 and turned into a military sports club.

In the seasons 1961/62 and 1963/64, the VTJ Litoměřice took part in the highest Czechoslovak ice hockey league with moderate success and otherwise played in the second division. The home games were played in neighboring Lovosice until the early 1970s. In 1969 the construction of an open ice rink with a capacity of 5000 places began, which was completed three years later. The construction was carried out by the local military administration at the Litoměřice site.

On June 8, 1970, the sports association TJ Rudá hvězda Litoměřice was founded in Litoměřice and initially had departments for football and sport shooting. By the end of 1971, additional departments for judo, chess, karate and ice hockey were established, so that there were two ice hockey teams in the city.

In 1991, the VTJ Litoměřice stopped playing, while the TJ Rudá hvězda was renamed TJ ODDM Stadion Litoměřice and continued to play at the regional level. In 1994, the team made it to the third-class 2nd division, but rose again a year later in the district class (Krajský přebor). In 2000 the club was renamed the HC Stadion Litoměřice before the men's team stopped playing in 2005. Another year later a men's team was registered in the district class, which in 2007 achieved promotion to the 2nd česká hokejová league and in 2010 to the 1st league . In 2010, the club's venue, the Kalich aréna , was renovated.

In the 2010/11 season Litoměřice took 13th place, in the 2011/12 season 9th place, so that the club missed the play-off round. Before the 2012/13 season began a partnership with HC Sparta Prague , since the 2015/16 season there has been a cooperation with Mountfield HK .
