IC 3349 is an elliptical dwarf galaxy from the Hubble type E in the constellation Virgo north of the ecliptic . It is an estimated 61 million light years away from the Milky Way , has a diameter of about 15,000 light years, and is listed under catalog number VVC 940 as part of the Virgo Galaxy Cluster.
In the same area of the sky are the galaxies NGC 4407 , NGC 4431 , NGC 4436 , IC 3363 .
The object was discovered by Royal Harwood Frost on May 10, 1904 .
