IC 3347 is a spiral galaxy of Hubble type S in the constellation Virgo north of the ecliptic . It is estimated to be 336 million light years away from the Milky Way and about 40,000 light years in diameter.
The galaxies NGC 4429 , IC 3346 , IC 3361 , IC 3371 are located in the same area of the sky .
The object was discovered by Royal Harwood Frost on May 10, 1904 .
