Radek Hamr (born June 15, 1974 in Litoměřice , Czechoslovakia ) is a former Czech ice hockey player and current coach, who was last under contract as an assistant coach at Färjestad BK in the Svenska Hockeyligan until summer 2015 .

Career

Radek Hamr began his career as a hockey player in the youth of HC Sparta Prague , for whose professional team he made his debut in the first division , the highest Czechoslovak league, in the 1991/92 season , with no point or penalty in two games . He was then selected in the NHL Entry Draft 1992 in the fourth round as a total of 73rd player by the Ottawa Senators . For the Canadians, however, the defender completed only eleven games in the National Hockey League in the following two years , while the rest of the time in their farm teams , the Prince Edward Island Senators from the American Hockey League and the Fort Wayne Komets from the International Hockey League spent. He then returned to the Czech Republic in 1995, where he received a contract with his ex-club HC Sparta Prague from the Extraliga . For the capital city, the left-handed shooter also took part in the game operation of the European Hockey League in the 1996/97 season , in which he scored a goal in ten games and made eight assists.

In the summer of 1997, Hamr moved to other European countries for the first time in his career, where he was signed by Västra Frölunda from the Swedish Elitserien . After he started the 1998/99 season in Frölunda, he left the club after nine games and signed with their league rivals Färjestad BK , with whom he was runner-up in the 2000/01 season. He then returned to HC Sparta Prague, with whom he became Czech champions for the first time in the 2001/02 season . Following this success, Färjestad signed the Czech again. After three defeats in the final, Hamr was able to win the Swedish championship for the first time in the 2005/06 season . In the summer of 2006, former NHL player went to the Kloten Flyers in the Swiss National League A . With the Flyers, the national player failed in the playoff finals in the 2008/09 season with 3: 4 wins in the best-of-seven series at HC Davos . After a long injury break, the Flyers terminated their contract with Hamr in July 2011.

In April 2012 Hamr announced his end of career due to injury and then worked as an assistant coach at his former club Färjestad BK in the Svenska Hockeyligan from the 2012/13 season until the end of the 2014/15 season .
